Managing your accountUsage limits

Account usage limits

Your account usage limits cover the messages you process and the resources you can hold. This page explains how those limits work and where to track them.

Usage from every inbox counts toward the same account limits. You can see every limit, and your current usage against it, on the Usage page in the Dashboard.

Usage limits

These limits cover what you process over time. Usage counts toward the limit until the period resets.

  • Email - a daily limit covering both the emails you receive and the emails you send (e.g. via replies)
  • SMS - a monthly limit, with received and sent messages counted separately
  • Email previews - a monthly limit on the number of previews you generate
  • Screenshots - a monthly limit on the number of screenshots you generate. A single email preview produces one screenshot for each email client or device you select

Resource quotas

These limits set how many of each item your account can have at once, rather than how much you use over time. These include:

  • Inboxes - the number of inboxes (also called servers) on your account
  • Users - the number of users you can invite to your account
  • Phone numbers - the number of SMS phone numbers you can hold

View your usage

  1. Open the Usage page from the main navigation in the Dashboard.
  2. Review the limits breakdown to see your current usage against each limit.
  3. Use the month selector to view a daily breakdown of usage for any of the last six months.

What happens when you reach a limit

Note: It is possible that your sending server/service may decide to 're-queue' those rejected emails and send them again after your limit resets. This can cause your usage to be impacted on the following day, so it is always important to ensure you have a high enough limit to cover your regular expected usage.

  • Email - if you hit the daily email limit, further emails are automatically rejected.
  • SMS - further messages are no longer processed.
  • Email previews/screenshots - you are unable to generate more until the count resets.

To raise any of these limits, contact the Mailosaur sales team.

When usage resets

The usage limits reset on a fixed schedule:

  • Daily limits (i.e. email) — the daily count resets at midnight UTC each day.
  • Monthly limits (e.g. SMS, email previews) — monthly counts reset at midnight UTC on the 1st of each calendar month.
