Save devices as a preset

Save the email clients and devices you test most often, and select them again in one click.

Most teams preview the same email clients and devices every time. For example, a release check might always cover Outlook on Windows, Gmail on Android, and Apple Mail on iPhone in both light and dark mode.

A preset saves that selection under a name. When you generate previews, click the preset to select all of its devices at once.

How presets work

  • A preset is a named list of email clients and devices. Light mode and dark mode, and portrait and landscape, count as separate devices.
  • Your presets are personal. Other people in your account cannot see or use them.
  • Your presets are available everywhere you generate previews: in the Designer and in every inbox.
  • You can make one preset your default. Mailosaur selects its devices each time you generate previews.

You manage presets on the Generate new tab, which appears when you click Generate previews. To use presets, you need permission to generate previews. See Who can generate previews.

Create a preset

  1. Click Generate previews on a design or an email.
  2. Select the email clients and devices you want in the preset.
  3. Click Save as preset.
  4. Enter a name for the preset, such as "Release smoke test". Each preset needs a different name.
  5. Click Save preset.

Your new preset appears under Presets, and its devices stay selected.

Use a preset

  1. Click Generate previews on a design or an email.
  2. Under Presets, click the preset you want. Its devices replace your current selection.
  3. Add or remove devices if you need to. This does not change the saved preset.
  4. Click Generate previews.

To see which devices a preset includes, hover over it.

Change the devices in a preset

  1. Select the preset under Presets.
  2. Add or remove devices. Mailosaur shows Unsaved changes to, followed by the preset name.
  3. Click Update preset.

To undo your changes instead, open the menu next to Update preset and click Discard changes.

To keep the original preset and save your changes as a new one, open the menu and click Save as new preset.

Rename a preset

  1. Select the preset under Presets.
  2. Click Rename preset.
  3. Enter the new name, and click Rename.

Set a default preset

  1. Select the preset under Presets.
  2. Open the menu next to Rename preset, and click Make default.

A star marks your default preset. You can only have one default. When you make a different preset the default, the previous one stops being the default.

To stop using a default, select the preset, open the menu, and click Unmark as default.

Delete a preset

  1. Select the preset under Presets.
  2. Open the menu next to Rename preset, and click Delete preset.
  3. Click Delete preset to confirm.

Deleting a preset does not change the devices you have selected.
