Compare email previews

A layout that works in Apple Mail can break in Outlook. A logo that looks sharp in light mode can disappear in dark mode. Comparing two previews side by side makes these differences easy to see.

You can compare any two previews generated for the same email or design. For example:

• Outlook on Windows against Apple Mail on Mac
• An iPhone against an Android phone
• The same device in light mode and in dark mode

Comparing previews does not use any credits.

Before you start

You need at least two previews of your email or design. See Generate email previews.

Previews do not have to finish rendering before you compare them. A preview that is still rendering shows a loading indicator until it is ready.

Select two previews to compare

1. Open your email or design, and go to the Previews tab or panel.
2. Open your previews on the See results tab.
3. Select the checkbox on the first preview you want to compare. It is labeled A.
4. Select the checkbox on the second preview. It is labeled B.
5. Click Compare.

If you select a third preview, Mailosaur removes your earliest selection, so you always have two. Click Clear to remove both selections.

Compare from a single preview

When you are already looking at one preview, you can compare it with another without going back to your results.

1. Open a preview.
2. Click Compare previews.
3. Under Compare against, find the second preview. You can search by device, device setting, or test date.
4. Select the preview to open the comparison.

Work with a comparison

Each side of the comparison has its own controls:

• Zoom in: click anywhere on a preview to zoom in on that point. Click again to zoom out. Each side zooms and scrolls on its own.
• Change a side: click the device name above a preview, and choose a different preview. If you choose the preview that is already on the other side, the two sides swap.
• Download a preview: click the download button above a preview to save it as a PNG image.

To download both previews, click Download both.

On a smaller screen, the two previews appear one above the other instead of side by side.

To leave the comparison, click Back or press Esc. Your two previews stay selected, so you can return to the comparison or change your selection.

Share a comparison

The address in your browser includes the two previews you are comparing. Copy it to send the same comparison to a teammate who has access to the email or design.

People who view your previews through a shared link can also compare them, without signing in to Mailosaur.
